At least, that’s what they said in a poll of 500 residents as a part of a comprehensive survey to be released at the upcoming Las Vegas Perspective event. As we see the economy improve, Southern Nevadans are telling us that they see their family’s income either holding steady or improving one year from now. Less than 20 percent see their paycheck shrinking.Compared to our regional metropolitan neighbors (Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City), Southern Nevadans say our region is the best one to live in. Now, that might sound unsurprising, but it shows we havea great quality of life here. Other communities struggle with unsatisfied residents who would rather live somewhere else if circumstances permitted, but our residents tell us they’re happy here. That’s not to say we don’t face challenges. When we asked Southern Nevadans to tell us what would make the community a better place to live, they ranked stronger K-12 public schools and stronger colleges and universities as the No. 1 and No. 2 most important issues we face today. Following those two education concerns were more efforts to decrease crime, more parks and recreation centers, more arts and cultural activities and institutions, and less road congestion and more public transit. Ranked least important was better dining and entertainment options. (That could be because two-thirds of people say they’re satisfied with the availability of recreational amenities, entertainment, and dining options in our community.)In addition to the full data for these questions, you’ll find all of the full survey and lots more in the Las Vegas Perspective, Southern Nevada’s premier source of community and economic development data, analysis and forecasting. The market overview data book will be released at a May 19 launch event, which will begin at 8 a.m. at the Four Seasons hotel. For more information and tickets, please see LVGEA.org/calendarJonas Peterson is the President & Chief Economic Development Officer at the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, the regional economic and community development organization for Southern Nevada.

Coldwell Banker Premier Realty Has Strong First Quarter – 2015

April 1, 2015 – Las Vegas, NV – Coldwell Banker Premier Realty’s (CBPR) 2015 first quarter sales saw an increase of 14 percent from last year’s first quarter. Despite not having traditional “seasons” in Las Vegas, evident by the severe winter the Northeast experienced while we enjoy the sunshine, there is seasonality in residential sales. The spring season tends to be very favorable for sellers who desire to list their home and in the recent month, more escrows were opened compared to new listings. If you are contemplating listing your home this year, consider that inventory levels tend to be lowest in the late spring and early summer months while sales activity tends to peak during the same time period. Furthermore, listing your home now typically gives sellers pricing power in the market.Going to the Dogs!Be sure to check out the "Homes' Best Friend Commercial" featuring our favorite four-legged children! Here is the heart string pulling ad we are airing across the country!Source: Mlxchange, Coldwell Banker Premier Realty. *Bank owned listings not under contract.
